The Workspace Manager consist of several tabs.
The main tab of the Workspace Manager is the Workspace Explorer. It is a tree visualization of the workspace structure with the different parts presented at several levels and with different symbols and colors for different kinds of nodes.
One can for example have data nodes for different kinds of data, with subordinate processing nodes made with that data, that again can have subordinate inversion nodes made from those processing nodes. Or one can have model selections nodes with subordinate theme nodes made from that model selection that can have subordinate grid nodes, that again can have subordinate image nodes. The exact workspace structures will depend on the data types, but are otherwise always the same.
Most nodes have a checkbox in front of the node. Checking this box will in most cases show the node on the associated Map Window (MapWindow) while unchecking the box will hide it again. There are a few node that work a bit different.
- With Profile nodes the checkbox is instead used to open and closer the Section along the profile.
- With Layer nodes, the subnodes of the Profile nodes, the checkbox is used to show or hide the layer on the section.
- With 3D Viewer nodes, the checkbox is used to open and closer the 3D Viewer node.
The Workspace Explorer tab is tied to the associated Map Window (MapWindow) and if there is more than one Map Window selecting the named Map Window tab will select the associated Workspace Explorer. For each node within the Workspace Explorer there are also two associated fields at the bottom of the Workspace Explorer. A Node Info field with some information about how the node was created and a Notes field where the user can write some comments about the node. For most nodes it is also possible to see a Properties description from the Workspace ribbon with specific information about how the node was created. The Node Info and Notes field can be hidden away using the arrows.
Next there is the Database Explorer tab that holds the databases with the Geophysical data and the Borehole data. It also has the associated Node Info and Notes fields.
There is the Windows tab that hold a list over open workspace windows and can be used to bring these windows to the front.
And finally there is the Log tab that hold logs added to the workspace from import sessions and other such activities.
The Workspace options used for Node Management in the Workspace Explorer window can be found on the Workspace ribbon.
Select a node in the Workspace Explorer and then click on an option on the Workspace ribbon.
The Node Management group include the following options:
- The node Properties option used to see the properties of the selected node.
- The Edit Display option used to edit the selected layers display on the map or on the section.
- The Move Up and Move Down options used to move the selected node up and down in the Workspace Manager. For sections this affects which layers are shown first.
- The Delete tool is used to delete the selected node and all sub nodes.
- The Multiple Deletes tool is used to select nodes in a filter and delete all the selected nodes and sub nodes.
- The Rename tool is used to rename the selected node.
- The Show Colorscale option is used to show the colorscale of the selected node in a separate window as an alternative to the colorscale that auomatically will be displayed at the bottom of the Map Window.
The Database options used for Database Management in the Database Explorer window can be found on the Database ribbon.
Select a node in the Database Explorer and then click on an option on the Database ribbon.
The Database Management group include the following options:
- The New Database option used to create new databases and open a connection to them. The database will be located in the workspace folder under \WorkspaceData.
- The Open Database option used to open a connection to an existing database.
- The Delete database option used to close a connection to a database. It is possible to do this without deleting the database from the disk, but there is an option to also delete the database on the disk so be careful.
- The Browse Database option used to browse the selected database. This option is rarely used.
- The Import option to import data and models into a database, this include borehole data. This can be done to an existing database or to a new database made as part of the import.
- The Rebuild Database option used to rebuild the selected database. Rebuilding a database can sometimes make it faster to work with. This is most often the case in workspaces where a lot of nodes have been made and later deleted.
The Model Selection and Borehole Selection groups include the following options:
- The New (Model Selection) and New (Borehole Selection) options used to create new Model Selections and new Borehole Selections from the selected database.
